The Witcher 3 Fan Renders of Geralt, Triss, Yennefer, and Ciri Are Remarkably Realistic

Though The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is approaching four years since its release, the acclaimed RPG from CD Projekt Red still continues to be an incredible source of inspiration for fan art and other creative endeavors since it launched. Recently, that includes a set of amazing fan renders that bring several of the game’s characters remarkably close to real life.

Artist and illustrator Astor Alexander shared a set of character renders for Geralt, Triss, Yennefer, and Ciri that bring each of these characters to life in incredible detail. Using screenshots for the game as reference, it’s uncanny to see how close Alexander’s renders are to the original characters, and what they bring out in characters that so many of us have come to know and love from The Witcher 3.

This however isn’t the first time that Alexander has turned to The Witcher 3 after also having created an amazing set of portraits in the “Witcher Noir” series, which reimagined The Witcher 3 in a film noir style.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. If you have yet to experience the game for yourself, you can pick it up over on Amazon. For a closer look at Alexander’s incredible character renders, you can check them out below for a look at Geralt, Triss, Yennefer, and Ciri:

The Witcher 3 Game Director Just Got Promoted to Cyberpunk 2077 Design Director

Cyberpunk 2077 CD Projekt Red The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt development

There’s no question that The Witcher 3 raised the bar on game design, with the game lauded from every outlet under the sun. And following a recent promotion, we can expect CD Projekt Red’s upcoming title to have the same quality. It appears that Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, Game Director for The Witcher 3 has been promoted and is now joining the Cyberpunk 2077 team as Design Director.

News about the promotion surfaced earlier today in the Cyberpunk 2077 dedicated subreddit, with an eagle-eyed LinkedIn user noticed the promotion. Anyone who checked out Konrad Tomaszkiewicz LinkedIn profile would notice that he took a new position within the game company two months ago: Vice President of Game Development and Design Director for Cyberpunk 2077.

The Witcher 3 Cyberpunk 2077 CD Projeckt Red Game Design Director Konrad LinkedIn

This is some great news for the already star-studded cast of developers. Anyone who has been following the news of the game will know that poaching from other studios has become big news, with RiME‘s lead level designer would be making his way over to the Polish studio. Despite concerns that the game’s Creative Director had departed early to begin working with developer Blizzard, CD Projekt Red certainly eased the tensions by announcing that the Cyberpunk 2077 team would be over 60% larger than the staff that worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Additionally, it’s readily apparent the talent that Tomaszkiewicz will be able to bring to the game as Design Director. For those who want a quick history into his history in the studio, he started working with CD Projekt Red as a Junior Tester on the original The Witcher title. From there he has risen through the ranks, in many respects due to classic decisions like breaking modern DLC norms. Taking a more active role in the game design is best case scenario for Cyberpunk 2077, especially given how polished the gameplay already looks:

Either way, we are preparing for some good news on the horizon. Information about Cyberpunk 2077 is sparse, though it is confirmed that we will be seeing the game at E3 2019.

There is no confirmed release date for the futuristic title, however the developer has let us know it will release “when it’s ready” for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Anyone hoping to pre-order the game and support the developer can already pre-order Cyberpunk 2077 on Amazon.

The Witcher 3 Cosplay of Ciri Is Easily Better Than The Real Character

The Witcher 3 III Wild Hunt Cosplay Ciri Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon

It’s tough for me to ever find cosplay that is legitimately better than the original source that inspires it. No matter how amazing and impeccable some Devil May Cry 5 cosplay may be, it always looks like a Nero imitation. Then there is this amazing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt cosplay of fan-favorite Ciri, which is easily better than CD Projekt Red’s original character model.

Late last year, cosplayer Victoria Hofferson was getting into The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and decided to post her (then) work in progress. Taking on Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon (better known as Ciri) from the monster hunting RPG series, the likeness is flat-out impressive:

While this is clearly from a few months ago, the cosplay got a recent surge of attention from the dedicated The Witcher subreddit after Hofferson posted the image. And there have definitely been updates in her style, including a more festive version of Ciri (to celebrate the New Year):

A post shared by Victoria Hofferson (@victoriahofferson) on

Even better, this isn’t the first time Hofferson has taken on The Witcher 3 — in fact, she’s done takes of the other fan-favorite female characters from the CD Projekt Red game. While she definitely looks less like Triss Merigold than Ciri, I’m still accepting arguments that this is a better version than the game’s character model:

Now all we need to do is get Hofferson around cosplayer Taryn who does a spot on Geralt of Rivia for a photoshoot.

Obviously, amazing cosplay isn’t secluded to just The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Some may remember earlier this week when we saw Shirogane-sama craft an amazing version of NieR: Automata‘s 2B. Meanwhile, I’m still banging the drum for the excellent Makoto and Futaba cosplays we saw earlier this year from DualShockers favorite title, Persona 5.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and is one of our favorite games of all time. If you haven’t picked up the title yet, you can do that on Amazon. Meanwhile, go make sure to follow and check out Victoria Hofferson’s other cosplay via her official Instagram or her Twitter account.

the Witcher 3 Indiegogo A Witcher's Tale Project Film Movie Netflix

Eat your heart out, Netflix. Fans of The Witcher 3 and The Witcher series are taking to crowdfunding platform to produce a series of short films that revolve around the beloved RPG series. Even better, they already have an episode ready to go, free of charge.

The news came from well-known Geralt cosplayer Taryn, who shared the project earlier today via his Instagram account:

“The story I’m going to tell… Is not about a man.. But a Witcher..” ❤ ° The day has finally come guys! 😍 With great pleasure today I can show You the launch trailer for “A Witcher’s Tale” Indiegogo campaign ❤ We all put in this trailer a lot of time and effort to get it at best We can! A post shared by Taryn (Tin) (@taryn_cosplay) on

Obviously, this is a bit of self-promotion; Taryn leads the Italian cast of A Witcher’s Tale, alongside Directors Daniele Cosenza and Davide Morabito, as well as Visual Effects expert Gianluca Vecchio (Fast & FuriousStar Wars: Rogue One).

To more or less demo off the project, dubbed A Witcher’s Tale, the team has put together two reels: a full episode titled “The Lady in Black” and a trailer for Episode 2:

One important note, this whole fan project is not associated with CD Projekt Red or The Witcher series author, Andrzej Sapkowski. While this may run into some copyright woes down the line, the A Witcher’s Tale crew is claiming that the entire series is non-profit.

Currently, A Witcher’s Tale (on its first day of launch) is fresh out the gate, looking for a total $10,998 investment. With this, they would plan on bringing in many of the best The Witcher 3 cosplayers together, rent a “Roach,” and make a trilogy of 6-8 minute episodes with voice-over (instead of acting).

This is obviously far from the only The Witcher project making it to screens — there has been a slow drip of news about the Netflix project, including the casting of Ciri and Yennefer as well as Geralt’s in-game voice actor flagging he would love to be involved with the series.

Either way, this looks like an immensely fun project — if you are interested in seeing where it can go, feel free to support A Witcher’s Tale team over at Indiegogo. Meanwhile, feel free to check out Taryn’s full series of Geralt cosplay over at his dedicated InstagramThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and is one of our favorite games of all time. The Witcher 3 Cosplay Captures the Magic of Triss Merigold

If you haven’t heard of Beke Jacoba before, I hope her gorgeous cosplay of Triss Merigold from The Witcher 3 now has your attention.

The Witcher 3 is an open world RPG masterpiece that left fans wanting more. Created by CD Projekt Red, you play as protagonist Geralt of Rivia. The Witcher 3 had a lot of great characters and a fantastic story. That being said, Triss Merigold was one female character that stuck out in particular over the course of the series.

Triss Merigold is a legendary sorceress of Temeria and is also known as Merigold the Fearless because she was thought to have died in the Battle of Sodden Hill. Triss was also a member of the Lodge of Sorceresses before the group disbanded.

This powerful witch wasn’t just a love interest of Geralt’s; she’s a powerful woman who can hold her own against enemies. I’m not joking; the woman had her fingernails ripped off and was still able to knock out bad guys. While her character gave in a bit to the fiery redhead stereotype, she’s still more than that, she’s a total badass who’s held many titles. If you haven’t played The Witcher 3 yet, Triss Merigold is a reason to play it. As she’s such a great character, it’s always awesome to see great cosplay of her.

Her other cosplays are more on the NSFW side, but she’s still able to capture the identity of every character she cosplays. You can check out more of Beke Jacoba work on Pictame, and Patreon.

If you ever thought: how cool would The Witcher 3‘s Geralt look as a samurai? Well wonder no more as CD Projekt Red’s new online store features an absolutely jaw-dropping figurine that re-imagines the protagonist as a Rōnin monster hunter.

According to the description on the official page: “Set in the Koyasan Cemetery in Japan, the scene depicts Geralt preparing to fight the local Oni — or demons. Accompanied and guided by a friendly Tatarimokke spirit, the witcher will need to use every trick in his arsenal to prevail.”

Rafał Jaki, CDPR’s business director, spoke at length about the origins of the figure design. “When I’ve spoken with Japanese gamers, I often hear that in many ways Geralt is almost like a character from an old Japanese folk tale about ‘yokai,’ or folk monsters. He is bound by a codex, but he has to break it in order to be true to himself — that’s a traditional dilemma for a Japanese hero.

“The inspiration for the figure’s was Okunoin Cemetery, we also used Jizō statues that in the Buddhist tradition symbolize taking care of children (including those unborn). Finally, the owl is a lesser-known yokai called Tatarimokke — it’s a spirit of dead infants, so it connects with The Witcher 3‘s botchling mythos.”

The actual character design work was done by CDPR artists Jan Marek and Marek Madej, while the 3D model used to craft the statue was done by Marco Plouffe.

A follow-up statue is already in the planning stages for Ciri and she’ll be portrayed in the same Japanese style. I’m incredibly excited to see what the talented artists will have in store for us with their next hand-crafted figurine. If you’re interested in the process, the video below details it completely.

There’s plenty of other fan content for The Witcher 3 as we have an impressive Geralt cosplay, an excellent fan-made film series, and a fan who creates lovely toy dioramas including for aforementioned title.

You can purchase The Witcher 3 for PS4, Xbox One, or PC.

The Witcher 3 Is Rumored to Have a Switch Port Coming Soon

The Witcher 3

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, new rumors of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt coming to the Nintendo Switch have emerged. Listings for a Switch version of CD Projekt Red’s critically acclaimed RPG have appeared on notable online Asian marketplace Taobao. Multiple sellers have listings for the game of the year edition–each accompanied with images of its box art with a Nintendo Switch logo in the upper left corner.

Allegedly, this port can be expected in September. There are a couple of things to consider when weighing the likelihood of this news. For starters, The Witcher 3 is a graphically intense game that gives consoles a run for their money.

Both the PS4 and Xbox One had a tough time keeping up in 2015 and regularly stuttered below 30fps outside of cutscenes–even more so in certain parts of the map. Patches continuously made and fixed performance issues with stability and optimization improvements all the way up to patch 1.61 released three years after the game’s launch. The Switch is by no means a weak console, but the power of its hardware doesn’t quite stack up against the competition. If we’re to see The Witcher 3 on Switch, it may be in a far less impressive state.

A second consideration is that this isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumors of Geralt heading to the portable platform. Last December, ResetEra user Richiek shared news of a French wholesaler with listings for a Switch version of The Witcher 3. That listing turned out to be fake. This most recent news of a Switch port also comes from ResetEra.

While it’s not impossible that this rumor is true, the safest course of action would be to wait for an announcement at E3–one that would undoubtedly come if the September release date has any merit to it. If this rumor does turn out to be a dud, it likely won’t be the last we hear of The Witcher’s path leading to the Switch.

The Witcher 3 for Switch Potentially Being Teased by Geralt Voice Actor

About a week ago at this point, we started hearing murmurings that CD Projekt Red’s beloved 2015 release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt could soon be making its way to the Nintendo Switch platform. While we haven’t heard much more about this potential leak since then, it now seems that one person closely associated with the game could be teasing its existence.

As seen over on Twitter today, Doug Cockle, who is the voice of Geralt of Rivia himself, released a new tweet that could be teasing the port. Cockle quote tweeted an account that stated it really wanted to see The Witcher 3 come to Switch which then led him to respond saying, “Who else wants to see this…. ;).” He also ended up tagging CD Projekt Red in the tweet directly.

Obviously, this doesn’t outright confirm that a Switch iteration of The Witcher 3 is in the pipeline, but it could be one of the first indications that it is coming. I mean, come on, Cockle used the winking emoticon of all things in this message. As we all well know, the winking emoticon is a universal indicator that’s meant to say, “Hey, I’m teasing you.”

However, maybe I’m just reading way too much into this and Cockle simply is just asking fans if they are legitimately wanting this port to happen. It’s hard to ever tell with these things, but I definitely lean towards thinking this is a full-on tease for the arrival of a Switch edition of The Witcher 3.

It’s also worth noting that CD Projekt Red in the past has stated that E3 2019 will be the company’s biggest ever, so perhaps it will have much more in store other than just showing off Cyberpunk 2077. If this Switch port of The Witcher 3 is real, hopefully, we’ll hear more about it within the next week.

The Witcher 3

After multiple rumors appeared over the past couple weekThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has now been confirmed to be coming to the Nintendo Switch.

The news of The Witcher 3 coming to the Switch was officially confirmed during today’s Nintendo Direct. The game was revealed via a new trailer that showed some footage of it in action. As you might expect, it looked like a downgrade compared to its counterparts on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but that’s to be expected.

As of now, we don’t know exactly when The Witcher 3 will be coming to the new platform, but the trailer ended by saying it’ll be before the end of the year. I expect we’ll hear more from CD Projekt Red in the coming days or weeks about this new port, so stay tuned.

If you want to check out the reveal trailer for The Witcher 3 on Switch, you can find it attached down below.

The Witcher 3 Won’t Run at 1080p on Switch

Most people expected that downgrades would have to be made to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt if we ever wanted to see it on the Nintendo Switch–and most people were right. The Witcher Twitter account confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Complete Edition will run at 540p in handheld mode and at 720p with dynamic resolution enabled while docked.

To some people, this may actually come as a pleasant surprise. It was not at all an unpopular opinion that The Witcher 3 could never make its way to the Switch due to power limitations. This was perhaps the greatest source of skepticism while rumors of a Switch port for the legendary action RPG made their rounds.

Those doubts were definitively put to rest when a reveal trailer for the Switch version of The Witcher 3 was released during Nintendo’s E3 2019 press conference yesterday. If you haven’t seen the trailer in all its somewhat low-resolution glory, you can check it out here:

Considering how taxing The Witcher 3 was on the PS4 and Xbox One back in 2015, 540p to 720p doesn’t seem like much to be upset about. If anything, the footage shown in that trailer looks decent compared to where expectations were for the port a few weeks back (especially compared to the 0p resolution of the port not existing at all). Being able to take Geralt on the go will be an awesome experience, even in standard definition.

The Witcher Twitter account also shared that the game will be 32GB, will include both Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine alongside 16 other pieces of DLC, and won’t support cross-saves. Expect more information on frame rate, load times, and pricing soon.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Complete Edition is scheduled for its grand Switch debut sometime in 2019.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Nintendo Switch Gets Several Screenshots Showing the Game in Action

As one of the most acclaimed games of this generationThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt instantly drew attention thanks to its fully-realized fantasy world and compelling cast of characters. While the game was a notable technical showcase on consoles and PC, the upcoming Nintendo Switch version, though notably less detailed, still manages to highlight the game’s visual strengths.

In a series of new screenshots, CD Projekt Red has given a closer look at what to expect from the upcoming Switch version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from a variety of sections from the game. Through the images below, we not only get a look at several of the game’s familiar faces like Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, but also get a look at some of the game’s world, all captured from the Switch version of the game.

Naturally, it’s obvious from the screenshots that the Switch version is not going to be near the level of visual fidelity that we’ve seen from the game on consoles and PC. However, it’s still an impressive feat for a game as big and detailed to be running on the Switch, and having it all while on the go is still sure to be worth the journey regardless. If anything, we can at least take solace in knowing that the infamous Geralt bathtub scene still appears to be intact on the Switch, with all the…”detail” it offers.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be coming to Nintendo Switch sometime later this year, but you can also pick up the game on PS4, Xbox One, and PC right now.

More information, courtesy of Wario64 on Twitter, about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition for Nintendo Switch has been trickling down since its reveal during Nintendo’s E3 2019 Direct. And among that is some very surprising but excellent news for those purchasing the title physically: the entire game will be loaded on the cartridge. Meaning that no download is necessarily to play this version:

This is no mean feat CD Projekt Red went the smart route of loading it on a 32GB cart. The complete version not only includes the base game but also the Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine expansion as well as 16 DLC. Details on the physical version have also been released which will include a compendium, map, and stickers.

We also saw several new screenshots of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition directly captured from the Switch. While it obviously isn’t reaching the visual levels of the PS4 or PC version, being able to play on the go is a huge plus for the re-released title.

As a fun little bonus, two figurines for The Witcher 3 are on sale if you happen to be a collector. The first is the infamous “Geralt in a bathtub” image and the second is the much cuter Nenderoid version of Geralt:

If you’re still on the fence about the game, check out our various DualShockers’ pieces. One extrapolates on the recent Hearts of Stone expansion, while another guides you through 23 essential quests. There’s also our review for the title, which we gave a near perfect score.

Latest Expansion for Gwent Takes the Card Game to Novigrad

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, CD Projekt Red

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game released late last year and has slowly been putting out various fixes and updates in the months since. Today, developers CD Projekt Red pulled back the curtain on the latest expansion to the multiplayer card game. The expansion takes players to Novigrad to explore the “rotten core” of the beautiful city. Watch the announce trailer below.

The big addition in the Novigrad expansion is the peculiar Syndicate, a brand new playable faction. You can collect over 90 new cards from the seedy underbelly of Novigrad. Among those 90 are 15 cross-faction cards that can be used with your old decks. You also get access to five new leaders who, as always, have their own unique abilities.

The Syndicate is also bringing a new meta to the game. You will now be able to use a new battle resource called Crowns, which let you activate cards that come with the Fee keyword. To acquire those Crowns, you need to play cards with the keyword Profit. You can also place a bounty on enemy cards and then kill them to claim the Crowns. It looks like a fun extra mechanic that will let players create some interesting combos.

There is another new keyword called Hoard, which gives you access to some of the most powerful abilities in the expansion. It requires you to save up a very large sum of crowns to use, so you’ll have to make a choice between getting more frequent, smaller rewards or just saving everything to splurge on a massive upgrade. Mechanics that force players into tough choices are my favorite in card games, so I personally like this addition.

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The Novigrad expansion is coming June 28.

The Witcher 3’s Geralt Cosplayer Exhibits Incredible Skellige Undvik Armor

If you have been following DualShockers for a while then you may remember when we reported on cosplayer, actor, and model Taryn who loves to get his Geralt on and dress up as the rugged monster slayer for hire from The Witcher series. Since, apparently, we can’t get enough of Taryn and that wonderful beard of his, here he is again and this time sporting the Skellige Undvik Armor from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – all crafted by his own fair hands.

Professional cosplayer Taryn endured three long months of manufacturing the Skellige Undvik Armor down to the finest detail by using real and faux leather, faux Fur, numerous types of fabrics, steel for the chainmail that’s incorporated with resin, and finally worbla (a brand of thermoplastic modeling material) and sintra (a lightweight yet rigid board of moderately expanded closed-cell PVC) for the armor parts.

It’s fair to say the colors look amazing side by side on the finished product (as seen in the image below by photographer Daniele Cosenza), especially the vibrant golds and greens that seem to only heighten Geralts luscious silvery locks. Take a look below at the similarities between Taryn’s self-made Skellige Undvik Armor and an in-game shot of Geralt’s exact same armor:

The Skellige Undvik Armor set was first introduced to The Witcher 3 in a free DLC on June 24th, 2015. There are two variants: one is level 16, the other 41, and the stronger one is one of the best armor sets in the game. If you have yet to pick this up, all you have to do is go to the armorer in Kaer Trolde but make sure you have a pocket full of gold as it’ll cost you a pretty penny of 2500 in coin.

The Witcher 3 was finally announced for the Switch at E3 this year during Nintendo Direct and as expected, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will receive quite a considerable downgrade from the original coming in at 540p in handheld mode and at 720p with dynamic resolution enabled while docked.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Complete Edition is scheduled for its grand Switch debut sometime in 2019.

The Witcher 3 Fan-Made Switch Dock Looks Like It Came Straight from Skellige

While it first released over four years ago, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has continued to be a source of incredible fan creations like cosplay, fan art, and in the case of one fan, a uniquely-made accessory for the game’s upcoming release on Nintendo Switch.

Following the announcement by Nintendo at E3 2019 that The Witcher 3 will come to Switch later this year, Reddit user LestatsMods-com shared images of a custom-made portable Switch dock that is themed entirely around CD Projekt Red’s acclaimed epic RPG.

The dock itself is painted to look like it might have come from the world of The Witcher, and it looks the part even more with the game’s logo on the front and the iconic wolf medallion that Geralt wears around his neck. Even more impressive is the fact that it even has glowing LED lights to make it feel even more authentic.

Originally released on consoles and PC in May 2015, the next iteration of The Witcher 3 will be the Switch version that will pack in the original game, its two expansions, and all previously-released DLC onto one Switch cartridge. While the screenshots released for the Switch version show that the game (obviously) won’t have quite the same level of visual splendor as its original versions, it’s still an impressive feat that CD Projekt Red seems to have gotten a game as big as The Witcher 3 into such a small setting.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and will be coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year. For a closer look at the custom The Witcher 3 Switch dock, you can check out the images below (via LestatsMods-com on Reddit):

The Witcher 3 is Reworked into a Modern, Noir Detective Thriller by Artist

At this stage, most of us have seen the exciting new trailer of Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher series that is set to debut to our screens later this year. But as I stumbled upon some truly awesome reimagined artwork from artist Astor Alexander which depicts The Witcher characters in a noir style, I couldn’t help but wonder if Netflix missed the boat on this one and instead could have created a fantastic dark and brooding series centered around these characters in some kind of modern, noir detective thriller.

Alexander, who is an Illustrator and concept artist, has created three posters showcasing different The Witcher 3‘s quests that include a reference to the main plot of Geralt’s search for Ciri, while the other two are based on side quests. In these insanely creative images that you can view below, you will notice a rather cool and modern Geralt while he lights a cigarette and another of him cradling a gun. The posters also display the three main women in The Witcher 3: Triss, Ciri, and Yennefer as they all wear modern clothing. These posters do a fantastic job at capturing the noir feel that makes me yearn for a detective game or TV series from CD Projekt Red.

If you’re interested in Alexander’s work and would like to check out more similar styles of art for other games too, you can jump over to his ArtStation site.

While you are here, check out this amazing Geralt cosplay by Taryn as he dons his very own hand-made Skellige Undvik Armor from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or for some The Witcher 3 character renders by Alexander, you can check those out right here.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. If you have yet to experience the game for yourself, you can pick it up over on Amazon.

The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch Gets An ESRB Rating Listing, Hinting at Upcoming Release

The Witcher 3

As one of the most acclaimed games of this generation, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was already a massive success on consoles and PC when it first released in 2015. However, with the Switch version on the horizon, a whole new audience will get to experience this massive RPG on the go or at home, and we hopefully won’t have too much longer to play it, if the ESRB is anything to go by.

Over on the official ESRB website, a ratings listing has appeared for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition on Nintendo Switch, which was officially announced earlier by CD Projekt Red during the Nintendo Direct at E3 2019. As expected, the game is rated M for Mature and carries with it all the descriptors that the previous versions of the game on PS4, Xbox One, and PC had – you can find the full listing below:

Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Alcohol
This is an open-world role-playing game in which players assume the role of Geralt, a monster hunter in search of a missing woman. Players explore a war-ravaged world while completing quests and killing enemy soldiers and fantastical creatures (e.g., wraiths, harpies, rock beasts). Characters engage in melee-style combat using swords and other bladed weapons, as well as magical attacks (e.g., blasts of fire, stun spells); combat is highlighted by screams of pain and impact sounds. Large blood-splatter effects occur when enemies are slashed, with some attacks resulting in decapitation or dismemberment. Some cutscenes depict slow-motion decapitations and other gore: an autopsy of a torture victim, rooms with several corpses (e.g., hanging from the ceiling, covered in blood on a bed, naked in a tub). During the course of the game, the central character can engage in sexual activity with prostitutes and female companions. These brief sequences depict females’ breasts and buttocks—sexual moaning sounds can be heard, though the camera cuts away from explicit sexual acts. The game includes a side quest in which Geralt engages in a drinking game; characters are depicted drunk and/or passed out. The words “f**k,” “sh*t,” and “c*nt” can be heard in the dialogue.

The rating and listing aren’t surprises themselves by any means: every game released in North America has an ESRB listing. But from the original announcement for the Switch version, which just stated that it would be out sometime this year, the ESRB listing is a decent sign that we might be getting closer to a release date (or an announcement of one).

Previous rumors suggested that the game would arrive for Nintendo Switch in September, according to a retailer listing. The ESRB listing could give some credence to that as it’s the month before, but given that the Switch is already set to receive some big releases in September like Daemon X Machina and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, it might be better suited to releasing in a less-crowded month. Hopefully we’ll know soon either way, though.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with the Nintendo Switch version of the game set to arrive sometime later this year.

This Witcher 3 Cosplay of Geralt Gets Wonderfully Meta

Although it released over four years ago, plenty of fan creations have come up inspired by CD Projekt Red’s massive RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. With its huge world and memorable cast of characters, it’s no wonder that the game continues to deliver excellent fan art and cosplay, including a humorous one that has a more meta angle to it.

A cosplay photo from Taryn Cosplay (photo credit: DC Photo Cosplay) — who we’ve featured his excellent Witcher 3 cosplays a few times before here at DualShockers — delivers more of a fun side of Geralt of Rivia by playing as himself in The Witcher 3. Extra bonus points for attention-to-detail goes to the Witcher collectible statue by the TV, and the bottle of Corvo Bianco wine by Geralt that came straight from Touissant.

Over on r/Witcher, Taryn explained that the cosplay/photo was a fast photo taken after a day of shooting, and that he has just started his third playthrough of the game. Judging by the cosplay and photo, we’d say it’s a fun way to celebrate an incredible game. Of course, it’s a great time to be a Witcher fan anyway, given that we have the upcoming TV adaptation of the book series from Netflix on its way later this year.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch version of the game to arrive later this year. For a closer look at the Geralt cosplay from Taryn Cosplay, you can check out the photo below:

We sure do love our cosplayers here at Dualshockers and due to the sheer amount of talent out there, we are always finding new and interesting people to write about. It takes a tremendous amount of, not only skill but time, effort and dedication to pull off the ultimate cosplaying costume. A lot of the time, people fall under the radar and sometimes only get the recognition they deserve when they partake in high-profile cosplaying events, but you can be guaranteed you’ll find some of the most polished cosplayers right here throughout the year.

Flung into the cosplaying spotlight today we have the stunning Tahnee Harrison showcasing her top-drawer Yennefer attire. In case you haven’t the first clue who Yennefer is, let me give you a quick briefing. Although Yennefer didn’t appear in the first Witcher game, she did appear in flashbacks in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and then found herself as a main character in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt playing a sorceress and Geralt of Rivia’s true love.

The cosplayer in question goes by ‘Love Tahnee’ over on Instagram where you will be able to see the many faces Tahnee wears that include – Lara Croft, Wonder Woman and many more. You can head over for yourself and take a look where I’m sure you’ll agree on what an incredible artist Tahnee is.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One with the Nintendo Switch version of the game set to arrive sometime later this year. If you haven’t picked up the title yet, you can do that on Amazon.

The Witcher 3 Mod Allows You to Play the Game As Henry Cavill, Geralt’s Voice Actor Responds

With The Witcher‘s debut release coming out on Netflix later this year, we were bound to get a mod showcasing Henry Cavill in The Witcher 3 that should keep excited fans of the upcoming show at bay until launch. In this new mod by Nexusmods, players will be able to swap out Geralt’s face (why?) with Henry’s in a new facial model based on the actor’s appearance. Although personally I much prefer Geralt’s rugged face, modder “Adnan4444” has without a doubt put in the time and effort to perfect Mr Cavill’s features, right down to his nose.

The description on Nexusmods states that “This mod page will be a base for different Henry Cavill variations in future. With scars, dirt, brown hair with blue eyes etc, but first of all, now I’m presenting a look closer to Geralt in Netflix show”. “Adnan4444” has also implemented “head meshes for the shaved face”…” hair physics for beards”, “Body hair textures” that include “healed scars” and “Toxicity textures from the show, without black eyes for now.”

Geralt’s in-game voice actor, Doug Cockle told IGN how he felt about the Henry Cavill mod, expressing “How dare they mod out my perfectly facial captured image of Game Geralt. Leave Geralt alone guys… he’s fine as he is…but I giggled a bit.”

If you fancy playing The Witcher 3 on PC as Henry Cavill, you can head over to Nexusmods and download the mod for free.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One with the Nintendo Switch version of the game set to arrive sometime later this year. If you haven’t picked up the title yet, you can do that on Amazon. Due to an outcry, Netflix gave fans there first look at Geralt’s trusty steed Roach via a new image from the show in which we see the man himself riding his loyal mere.
